| Morija is
a non-profit humanitarian association, working under its statutes and
articles 60ss of the Swiss civil code. Morija means "The Eternal
will provide" or, in accordance with another translation, "The
Eternal sees". Therefore this name refers to the Christian values
upon which the association was founded. It offers help on a social level,
without any distinction of race nor religion, and its aim is to help orphans
and deprived people of Africa in general and in Sahel more specifically. In 1974, shocked by the magnitude of famine that Ethiopia was living, a group of Christians, led by Michel Raboud, rose and decided to say no to fatalism by offering its help, according to the words of St. Matthew 25 versicles 35 and 36: "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me". |
